"INFLUENCING VAIL'S FUTURE"
Connecting businesses and community to grow, serve and
enrich the greater Vail area.
Community – We know, care and connect with each other.
Influence – We are present, involved and actively shaping the future.
Growth – We promote opportunities and economic development.
Information – We gather and share resources.
There is a great buzz echoing throughout the Greater Vail Area and a much anticipated milestone has finally happened with the grand opening of a local Safeway! Before my family moved to the Southeast Region of Tucson, it was rumored to be on the way. If you lived in the area in 2008, it was a familiar rumor that was purported to have happened even then. It is here now! And the face of our community will forever be changed. I love to celebrate moments like these—the start of a new business, and other various indicators of both personal growth and organizational growth. It is not just this recent grand opening of Safeway that signals growth throughout the southeast region of Tucson. It is a picture of more to come. What signs of growth are you experiencing in your personal life? In your business? And in various places throughout our community?
During these past two years it has been apparent that rapid growth would be coming to the southeast regions of our city. We could both plan ahead and prepare to embrace it, or we could keep doing what we have always been doing and let the moment pass us by. The local Safeway, the continued expansion of Houghton Town Center, plans for future schools, new construction and increasing housing values are all among those things that have been developing throughout the community here in the Greater Vail Area. And there is more on the horizon…
The board made a tough decision to cancel our annual dinner this year. We will still hold our State of the Chamber during the June breakfast and a few more exciting developments will be revealed as the Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce works together within our local community to get better positioned to lead in those various environments that will impact our growth as a community. These are exciting times!
This year, on Cinco de Mayo, we will celebrate our 7th Annual Golf Tournament! When you support the annual golf tournament by hosting a foursome, sponsoring a tee, donating a raffle prize, or buying a ticket for the ball drop, all of these things help to invest in the future of our community as well. The proceeds from the golf tournament will go towards scholarships for five dynamic students in the Vail School District.
Your membership in the GVACC is making a difference! Thank you for being a part of influencing Vail’s future through our great community. And thank you for doing your part to make the 7th Annual Golf Tournament be the best it can be!
Making a difference together,
Community. Influence. Growth. Information.
These are our values as a chamber. They determine our progress and they define our wins.

While the construction takes place, we’re in temporary transition mode. When the dust settles, we will have a new office for you to visit. In the meantime, we’ll be working behind the scenes and meeting by appointment only. Follow along with the progress on our website and Facebook page. We can’t wait to welcome you into our new chamber home in just a few months!
PAG and RTA ARE SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR
A CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Be part of our region's transportation planning efforts.
PAG and RTA transportation planning efforts serve to identify available or needed funding sources to meet long-term transportation needs to benefit the region’s mobility, livability and economic vitality.
The Citizens Advisory Committee will work in collaboration with other PAG committees to review an update to PAG’s long-range transportation plan, also known as the 2045 Regional Mobility and Accessibility Plan (RMAP), and jointly recommend a draft update to the PAG Regional Council or RTA Board.
In the future, the CAC will work with the RTA Technical Management Committee to develop an RTA continuation plan that will involve an extensive public involvement process. Ultimately, the CAC and TMC will jointly recommend a draft RTA continuation plan to the RTA Board for approval and eventual voter consideration. Pima Association of Governments manages the RTA, which is the fiscal manager of the voter-approved RTA plan.
Individuals interested in serving on the committee must reside in Pima County and be of voting age. Selected applicants will serve up to a three-year term, starting in summer 2018.

Vail Preservation Society
Connecting Community and Inspiring Vail’s Future Since 2006
Vail Preservation Society (VPS) facilitates community engagement through historic and heritage preservation. Our work provides a platform for building Vail’s future inspired by local values and traditions through partnerships between residents, organizations, and government in the greater Vail area of Vail, Corona de Tucson, and Rita Ranch.
Vail’s population has exploded since 2001. But no matter when we arrived, we all call Vail home. Through unique educational opportunities for youth, creating public art, recording oral histories, student museum club, preservation trades skills, or establishing Vail as an official Arizona Main Street community, VPS works to create shared experiences to strengthen our commitment to each other and to the place we call home.
VPS has begun rehabilitation on Vail’s oldest building the 1908 Old Vail Store & Post Office. When complete in 2019, the Vail Connects Welcome & Heritage Center will have a coffee shop, a gallery for local artists, house Cienega H.S. TSW Artisan space, provide information on local Main Street happenings like the fireworks of A Colossal Fourth, be a venue for live music, and much more. We can’t wait!
