President's Report

Happy New Year!  In preparation for 2018, our membership team has been thinking about milestones and what it could look like to celebrate these significant moments in your business with you.  It is not uncommon to get swept up in a culture of immediate gratification and swiftly shifting towards the next big thing.  Getting results and experiencing success can be intoxicating.  It requires discipline to stop and reflect and celebrate one’s accomplishments, and the hard work that has culminated in achieving these milestones.

What milestones are you celebrating in your personal life?  And what milestones are you celebrating in business?  Our membership team and the Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce want to celebrate these significant moments together with you.  Some of these things could include a ribbon cutting ceremony, an anniversary, a promotion, a new staff member, a building space, an expansion, an income goal, recognizing a donation or a specific contribution to the local community, or even special recognition that you may have received from the local community.  It feels good to see hard work lead to the realization of specific goals and we want to be a part of these moments with you in the months and years to come.  What milestones will you celebrate in life and business in 2018?

Here are just a few milestones we are working towards to better represent you and your business this year:

We are moving out of the existing chamber office in preparation for the new office space that we are calling “Vail Connection”.  The new office space is still in the development phase, but this intermediate step is helping to better position us for the actual move in by redirecting some of our overhead expenses.  There is a lot more involved with this move in process, and we will keep you posted on the progress.  We look forward to celebrating a grand opening with you when the time comes for that later this year.  As the Executive Director, Michelle Harrington will still be actively representing our chamber and responding to the needs of our members while we are working towards that exciting grand opening at Vail Connection!

Another endeavor that we have been working towards is addressing this question:  How can the Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce best represent you and your business when it comes to legislative issues in local government?  This question has led us to establish priorities that we need to proactively pay attention to for the betterment of our immediate community.  These priorities include:  Education, Transportation and Infrastructure, Taxation, and Incorporation.  This is a work in progress, but what this means for now is that we will be monitoring legislative proposals with greater intentionality in an effort to strengthen our community and better support growth in your business.  Look forward to hearing more about this during our upcoming breakfast and please feel welcome to contact our board members, Darcy Mentone and Brad Anderson, or our Executive Director, Michelle Harrington, with thoughts or ideas that you may have about ways we can best leverage our advocacy for businesses through local government.

We are Influencing Vail’s future together with you and we are enthusiastic about the milestones we will celebrate together during this next year!  Happy New Year and much success to you, your family, and your business in 2018!

Community.  Influence.  Growth.  Information.

These are our values as a chamber.  They determine our progress and they define our wins.
