President's Report

Natural rhythms are ever present in the various environments we are a part of.  This is true in business.  It is also true in our family life.  Coordinating those natural rhythms for maximum productivity is as much a discipline as it is a skill set.

Often times we hear people talk about finding balance in their schedules.  Balance doesn’t exist.  Think about it.  The only time a car is balanced is when it is on the rack.  Do you want to be “on the rack”?  I don’t.  So, how does one address those moments in life that make us feel imbalanced?  Could the answer to this question be found in how we leverage these natural rhythms and manage our energy?  Here are some ways to assess your awareness.

What are the busy seasons in your industry?  When do your clients most need your attention?  For you personally, what time of the day do you do your best work—is it early morning or later in the day?  When does your family demand more of your time?  During a calendar year, when do you need to press harder towards your goals; when do you feel the need to pull back and rest?  And when do you celebrate the wins with the people that have helped your accomplish the goals you have set for yourself and for your business?

Understanding your answers to these questions will help you grasp the natural rhythms in your life and in your business.  Understanding your answers to these questions can also help you radically improve the disciplines you put into practice to develop the skill sets you need in order to maximize your productivity.  Understanding the natural rhythms in your life may also be the key to maximizing the energy you need to feel good about yourself.  And when you feel good about yourself, it is much easier to leverage productivity and strengthen relationships that matter most to you!

This past month the chamber celebrated an incredible day at VailFest!  The response from the business community and the public as a whole was awesome!  The feedback we got about the booths in the expo, the food, the live bands, the beer garden, and the car show were overwhelmingly positive! Thank you for your support at VailFest!

The chamber also worked alongside of the Vail School District, The Vail Preservation Society, and ReSources Food Bank to host our first Block Party, and provide tours of our future office space for the chamber—Vail Connection @ GVACC.

This month we will rally together to support local families through the Angel Tree Project.  Our partnership with businesses like yours, over the years, has demonstrated a level of generosity that has greatly encouraged many families in their time of need.  Listen for ways you can be a part of the Angel Tree Project at the November breakfast.

Our ambassadors for the chamber have done a great job reaching out to the community and together they have realized a new milestone for our fast growing chamber!  We are grateful to be a part of the 176 business members that make our community what it is today!  You are a significant part of Influencing Vail’s future and I want to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving and continued success in your business during this holiday season!  Thank you for your generous support of the Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce and the surrounding community!

Community.  Influence.  Growth.  Information.

These are our values as a chamber.  They determine our progress and they define our wins.

Realizing our potential together,
Jeff Logsdon
