President's Report

What’s new?  In our household, we are celebrating a child that just learned to swim and ride a bike, another child that just got braces, and a third child that recently started high school here in Vail!  New experiences facilitate new opportunities for learning and growth.  What’s new in your household?  What’s new in your business?

In our community there are so many great, new things happening!  Most recently, I got to sit in on a highly energetic meeting with several thousand people from the Vail School District and that challenged me to think about the legacy that I am weaving in my personal life and the relationships I am embracing.  I appreciate the opportunity to be challenged in new ways from the various thought leaders in our region.  What new ways are you being challenged?

Within the chamber our new board is engaging and ambitious and looking at creative ways to leverage future opportunities with the new developments that have been occurring throughout Vail and along the Houghton corridor.

When you attend the chamber breakfast this month, you will be a part of an exclusive moment to weigh in on a name for our new chamber office.  Many names were submitted and those have been narrowed down to six or seven ideas.  This collaborative office space isn’t just new to the greater Vail area; it is something that few other chambers have in common.  If you happen to miss the breakfast, you can look for a survey monkey that will give you the chance to cast your vote and be a part of this historic moment.

Registration for VailFest is also underway and the new name for this signature event brings with it some exciting developments that will add to the experience from previous years!  A car show will display some of the local classics you won’t want to miss.  Some backyard bands with a great following will set the stage for a memorable afternoon.  And a few craft breweries from the immediate area will tantalize the palates of those who enjoy a good beer.  Mark your calendar for October 21st and join us for VailFest at the Pima County Fair Grounds!  Register for a booth or find out how you can be a part of serving there behind the scenes!

The chamber is also engaging conversations with the Southeast Regional Council and will soon be looking for those interested in working together to represent the most pressing needs of the community.  Stay tuned for more information there.  In the meantime, check out the Multi Chamber Mixer happening on the evening of August 24th at the Tubac Golf Resort.  It is a gorgeous location and the perfect environment to make strategic connections with other business owners.

Thank you for being a part of the many new developments happening in the Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce!  Now, more than ever, your contribution is helping to weave a legacy while Influencing Vail’s future!

Community.  Influence.  Growth.  Information.

These are our values as a chamber.  They determine our progress and they define our wins.

Realizing our potential together,

Jeff Logsdon
President

Member Shout Outs

Kimberly Crossland, Savvy Copywriters, gives a shout out to Rob Harrington, Harrington Technologies, for helping her when her website and email went down!

A shout out to Lucretia Free, The Vail Voice, from Steve Pakus, Vail Electric, for all the work he gets through his ad.

Laurie Larkin, J. Hilburn Men's Clothing, thanks Michael Bradford, Bradford Insurance Group/Allstate, for all his help and patience. Customer service extraordinaire!

Mark Tate, ReSources, gives a shout out to Steve Pakus, Vail Electric. The ReSources Vail Food Band utilizes 48 fluorescent light bulbs. Steve told them about LED bulbs. It would only require half as many. So they ordered 24 LED bulbs and Steve installed them all for the Vail Food Bank for free. This has increased the amount of light and will help them save money on their electric bill. Thank you Steve!

A shout out to Haley Larkin-Movahedi, A Simple Cookie, from Kimberly Crossland, Savvy Copywriters, for delivering cookies to a client.

Jackie Atkins, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, gives a shout out to Rita Ranch Automotive. They performed work on her son's car efficiently and quickly at a great price.
