Vail is a small town filled with rich history, culture and Sonoran Desert beauty. The town neighbors the subset of Tucson called Rita Ranch. Things are spread out in Vail and we like it that way. Our rural lifestyle is what attracts people from all walks of life including professionals who work out of their home, Raytheon employees, servicemen and retirees.

When you first arrive to visit Vail, AZ, the side open space can seem overwhelming. Although beautiful, you might wonder where you can go to eat, stay and play. We’re here to help.

Here are our recommendations for Greater Vail Area Chamber of Commerce members to visit while you enjoy your time in the town we love.

Where to Eat

Montgomery’s Grill and Saloon is located in the heart of Vail. It is a pub and grill filled with traditional American cuisine, and local beers and wine.

Hot Rods Old Vail is a unique restaurant located off of Houghton road near I-10. Here, you can eat traditional American diner food while you watch an old hot rod get fixed up and ready for the road in the shop below.

Hacienda del Lago’s restaurant has a delicious meal with a view. Watch the sunset over Tucson or enjoy the beauty of the Rincon mountains while you eat in this casual restaurant.

El Coronado is Mexican food at its finest. When you want an authentic taste of the Southwest, plan to stop in for tacos, guacamole, enchiladas and other Mexican specialties at this family restaurant.

Baskin Robbins is well-known for their refreshing ice cream. Stop in and treat yourself year round. It’s always ice cream weather in Vail!

Where to Stay

Inn at Civano is located just outside of Vail, AZ. It is a quaint home in a beautifully colorful neighborhood. Here, you’ll surround yourself with cozy amenities and quick access to coffee shops, businesses and local attractions.

Where to Play

Del Lago Golf Course is one of the best golf courses in Southern Arizona. Plan a gathering with your closest friends and enjoy a relaxing day on the green.

Arizona Trail is a must-see for every visitor! This trail extends from the southern border to the northern border of Arizona. Vail is a gateway community, which means we have a portion of this one-of-a-kind trail. Hike through Cienega Creek Preserve and you’ll feel like you’ve taken a step out of the Sonoran Desert in lush greenery and a running creek. Or, go for a mountain bike ride under I-10 and through Colossal Cave Mountain Park. No matter what your skill level, this trail has a segment for you.

Colossal Cave Mountain Park has something for everyone. There’s hiking, biking, spelunking, history, photographic opportunities, bird watching, wildlife watching, camping and so much more.

Arizona Senior Academy regularly hosts lectures, concerts and other community events. Check their calendar to see what’s coming up while you visit Vail, AZ.

Vail Theatre of Arts is owned and operated by the Vail School District. Here, you can find some of the best shows around from local students to artists traveling through town, there’s always something on deck.

Tucson Speedway is a NASCAR race track, which welcomes some of the sport's biggest names. Visit their website for the schedule and be sure to stop in for a night at the races!

Pima County Fairgrounds is best known for their Pima County Fair held in April each year, but year round you can find other events being held at the fairgrounds, including our very own Vail Country Fair.

Ben’s Bikes rents bikes to ride through Fantasy Island, a local mountain biking network of trails less than a mile from their store. Also close by the greater Vail area and Ben's Bikes store is the loop, which is a paved bike path that circles the greater Tucson area. Stop in, get fitted and get outside!
